Maykye Ame Tibetan Restaurant is a good choice for vegetarian people. There is a beautiful love story about the name “Maykye Ame” which can be translated as Holy Woman. It might be the first chain restaurant in Tibet. The spinach-tofu ravioli smothered in tomato basil sauce and the vegetable curry set with chapatti are recommended. And please do have a visit to its third-floor balcony from where you can have an overview of the bustling Barkhor Street.
Xue Shen Gong Restaurant is one of the best restaurants in Lhasa specializing in local Tibetan food. It provides a very comfortable atmosphere for travelers from home and abroad. You can sink into the big sofas at the second floor. The mashed yak meak, yak blood sausage, Tibetan momos and yogurt there are recommended.
This is a teahouse restaurant run by Pentoc. It offers great home-made Tibetan food including momos (dumplings), thugpa (noodles), butter tea and Chang (barley beer, the local beverage) etc.
The Nepalese dishes of Snowland Restaurant is very delicious at reasonable price. Besides Nepalese food, it also offers Tibetan food and western food with variety of options. Many travelers like this restaurant so much that they eat there nearly every day during their stay in Lhasa..You are recommended with the Yak pepper steak, croquette-like potato momos, dumplings as well as their version of Chang (the local beverage).
Dunya Restaurant offers a wide range of meals from local Tibetan yak enchiladas to western homemade sandwiches. There is a bar at the second floor favoured by local expats and foreign tourists.
Namaste Restaurant mainly serves Nepalese (Indian) and western food. Its host is Mr. Jampa from Nepal and his cooks and chefs are all from Nepal as well. The food and service are outstanding. Sitting at the tables by the windows, you can enjoy the overview of Barkhor Street.
