There are eight temples around the lake and at Chiu Gompa, one can get a wonderful view of Mount Kailash and the pure lake.
Lake Manasarovar is the souce of Sutlej River and near the sources of three other rivers in Aisa: Brahmaputra River, Indus River and Karnali River (Ghaghara, tributary of the Ganges River). Many Indian pilgrims will take a holy dip in the lake on their yatra trip to Mount Kailash and local Tibetan usually trek around only. As the condition in Kailash Kora is poor, some tourists take bath at the spring of the village near Chiu Gompa at the lake.
